I thought it would be interesting to see this painting - the before and after versions. What do you think?

The theme of the next members' show at our local art centre, Vernon Community Art Centre, is Winter in Wonderland - part of the upcoming Winter Carnival. Ice crystals have been coming to mind; and then some other stuff ended up on the canvas. Strange how that happens. And since I was already covered in paint, I thought I would try changing the background colour of my "Pair of Pears".
I don't think the first two are done yet, but I'm not sure what to do - so I'll do nothing for now. As always, I would love to hear your comments. Thanks for visiting my blog! This is the output from an exercise in Mary Todd Beam's book - using plastic wrap on wet gesso to create interesting textures. The shapes look like ice with the sun glinting off, creating a prismatic range of colours. What's it look like to you?
(and when you turn it sideways, I can see a female figure. Ha!) Thanks for visiting my blog - as always, I love to hear your comments. So what the heck does that mean? Well, it was the purpose of the most recent project in my Jane Davies course. Experimenting with colours, looking for 2 or more that create a visual tension and to use texture through the application of various materials to both enhance the colour and add interest. So here's the work: Thank you for visiting my blog and website. Please leave a comment - I'd love to hear from you. I'm following the lessons and projects in Jane Davies' online workshop entitled: "Extreme Composition". Today's project was to paint using two shapes or shape families (squares, circles, triangles) and line. All of the paintings incorporate acrylic paint, water-soluble crayons, regular crayons, graphite, markers and collage. Here we go: Thank you for visiting my blog. Please leave your comments - I love to hear from you.
You will laugh when I describe how my 'comfort zone' is being stretched. I actually followed Jane Davies' demo for the first two paintings and the 'Circle and Triangle' was something I thought I would never do. It felt 'weird'. AND - doing it was such a surprise - I got a real jolt of delight making those shapes. Go figure! And here's a tryptich I have been playing around with - it's not done but I'm not sure where to go with it. Thank you for visiting my blog. I'd love to hear your comments!
